Baton Nationals!!!

Oh, my gosh!!! Baton Nationals was so much fun and we all did really well. Here is how I did:

Intermediate Solo- 6th out of 41

Int. X-strut- 7th out of 33

Int. Flag- 7th

Show twirl- 6th out of 25

Two- baton- 2nd out of 31

Team- pom got 13th out of 26 we learned the routine two weeks ago
production we don't know yet
regular team we got 3rd out of 13

We were on our way to the Hammus Bookstore on campus when I got a call from my coach saying that me and somebody else needed to go up for awards. So me and my friend Jennifer ran across campus, changed our clothes, ran all around the arena to find where we needed to go and then stood for a half hour long awards ceremony. During the awards they announce the top ten and the other three losing teams are left in the back in front of everyone which is really embarassing. So they announced tenth place, and ninth place and we're thinking 8th or 7th place wouldn't be so bad. Then they announced fifth and me, Jennifer, and Kirsti are like,"Crap, we didn't even make top ten. " So we are looking at the ground and covering our faces with our hands and our coach has her face buried in her hands. Then we ended up getting 3rd. So the first place winners are just standing there smiling and then there's us, the third place winners jumping up and down screaming and laughing, it was so funny.

Check back tomorrow for pictures and more funny stories.

Balloons & Tunes

Oh, my gosh, it was so hot yesterday. We were going to have to perform at Balloons & Tunes in Indianola in the heat, but luckily we got rained on and we didn't have to. The bad news was that our baton coach called a 3 hour practice instead, but we did need it. The whole reason for the practice is because we have baton nationals next week at Notre Dame in Southbend, Indiana. I am so excited and it is going to be sooooooooooooooo so soooooooooo much fun!!! I'll tell you about how the team and I did next week.

Bill Riley 2006

Well, our tap quartet is competing in the Bill Riley Talent Search again this year. Except now we are in the Senior division which is a lot more and harder competition. We still have been doing pretty well though. In the past week we have competed in two more. One was on the Fourth of July in Carlisle and there were lots of really good acts, yet we still ended up winning 2nd place and the prize was $50. Then on Friday we went to New Virginia where there was also really good talent. We ended up getting first place and a $25 prize. As supportive as my mother is, after the awards she came up to us and said, "Wow I didn't think that you had a chance of even placing." That's my mother. Well, our next contest is the Iowa State Fair. I hope that we do well at the fair as well.
